JACKSONVILLE, FL – Starting in 2027, the Jacksonville Jaguars will swap the banks of the St. Johns River for the vibrant scene of Orlando, at least for one season. As EverBank Stadium embarks on a $1.4 billion renovation, the Jags will temporarily call Camping World Stadium home.

This move signifies more than just relocation; it’s a strategic step toward enhancing the franchise. The construction of a cutting-edge “Stadium of the Future,” set to debut in 2028, is among the NFL’s most ambitious renovation projects.

New Terrain, New Vibes

Camping World Stadium, renowned for hosting bowl games, concerts, and WrestleMania, is undergoing a significant renovation, receiving $400 million for upgrades. Enhancements include a sleek exterior built for Florida’s weather and an expanded upper bowl, increasing capacity to approximately 65,000 fans.

By 2027, this venue will be fully equipped for NFL Sundays. While Gainesville’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium was briefly considered, Orlando emerged as the logical choice due to its ongoing innovations.

This partnership is a perfect blend of opportunity and timing. Jacksonville needs a temporary home, while Orlando seeks to showcase its capabilities beyond basketball.

Economics and Auditions

Orange County officials are already supportive, allocating $10 to $11 million in incentives to secure the Jaguars’ presence. One home game could inject about $20 million into the local economy, creating a significant financial boost over the course of the season.

However, the stakes are higher for Orlando. Hosting the Jaguars serves as an audition—an opportunity to assert its place in future NFL expansion or relocation discussions. As Florida’s favorite pastime, football allows the city to embrace its authentic sports culture on Sundays.

Orlando’s leaders are treating this arrangement like a long-term relationship, investing in infrastructure, marketing, and ambiance to demonstrate their commitment.

The Jaguars’ Transformation

For the Jaguars, this relocation is part of a larger evolution. The EverBank renovation isn’t just about aesthetics; it aims to reshape the community’s perception. The new stadium is designed to anchor a revitalized riverfront area, filled with entertainment and public spaces.

In 2026, the team will play in a temporarily reduced-capacity EverBank before making a full transition to Orlando. Among the promising players is Travis Hunter, the number 2 overall draft pick and Heisman Trophy winner. Known for excelling as a two-way player, Hunter represents the franchise’s bright future.

Though the situation isn’t ideal, Jaguars fans are resilient. From enduring relocation rumors to cheering their team in London, they know how to weather any storm. The “Duuuuvaaaal” chant may echo differently beneath Disney fireworks, but that pride remains unchanged.

The Encounter of Mascots and Magic

It’s a collision of blue-collar resilience and whimsical fantasy, with NFL Sundays meeting the enchantment of Main Street, U.S.A.

The Jaguars have always embodied the underdog spirit. A year in Orlando wasn’t in the initial plan, yet it could mark a transformative chapter: new fans, heightened visibility, and renewed energy under head coach Liam Coen and quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Anticipating the Return

When the Jaguars return to Jacksonville in 2028, they will step into a futuristic EverBank Stadium, poised to compete with NFL powers. The lights will shine brighter, the atmosphere electric, and the city will swell with pride.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars will embrace their role as road warriors, carrying the Duval spirit 140 miles down I-4. The mission remains clear: continue to build, to compete, and to prove that this franchise is evolving, not just surviving.

As Jaxson DeVille soars through Orlando next fall, he won’t merely be entertaining in Mickey’s territory but embodying the essence of growth, resilience, and belief in a promising future.
